A post-holiday Gentle Reminder to Keep Your Peace

You just had a holiday and returned to work.

The photo albums in your phone remind you of the funny moments, but your mood changes when you open the inbox.

How did you feel when you came back from a holiday as a junior?

How do you feel now when you are in a senior role?

For me, I felt it changed from fully refreshed to partially recharged. What about you?

The demands on a leader are very different from those on a junior.

All we’ve been told is bigger responsibility to deliver more. There is less about our greater responsibility to protect what matters to us in our lives.

And when the demanding job becomes the biggest driving force or decision factor, it’s easy to lose ourselves and our direction.

Changing that takes time, but you can start with small shifts.

It could be something you enjoy during a holiday, and you keep that. Like the Back to Work reminder below of what you already know, but haven’t started.

Or, they could be anything that supports the foundation you need: your health, your energy, and your joy, if you want to perform better, not just in a job in a company but in any role in your life.

The key is to start with something so small that your demanding job cannot override it. Even 5 minutes can do, and move the needle gradually.

Yes, you are responsible for delivering results in a job because someone paid you.

Yet, you are also responsible for protecting what matters to you. And only you can do this.

Start changing one thing today.
